In this project, Emilinah examines the nature of socio-environmental and governance impacts which are accompanying an expanding frontier of resource extractivism, due to the global energy transition, in Cabo Delgado province in Mozambique. Currently, she is investigating how these impacts manifest in relation to three graphite operations and a mega-scale natural gas project in the province. The aim of the project is to extend current knowledge of the emerging impacts of energy transition-related resource (ETR) extraction in Africa, and subsequently, to contribute to discussions on the implications on African societies and environments of the energy transition as a climate change mitigation strategy.
